This video
of BIGAB 15 – 19 lifting a fantastic load of timber has soon been seen by 200 000
viewers on You Tube! That is fantastic numbers! The film was made nearly 7
years ago and perhaps not the coolest video of them all but it is one fantastic
BIGAB in this film that’s for sure!

New design – Hydraulic radio winch!
FARMA is
launching a long-awaited price worthy series of new hydraulic remote controller
winches under the G2 series named FARMA RW 1300 and RW FARMA 500. The RW 1300
winch can be installed on all crane models from C 4,6 reach and upwards. RW 500
winch can be mounted on our smallest crane model with 3,8 m range.
The larger
winch (RW 1300) has a 6 mm wire with a length of 35 meters as standard. The
pulling force is at 175 bar 1300kg on empty drum. The small winch (RW 500) has
a 5 mm wire with a length of 30 m. Pulling force is at 175 bar 600 kg on empty
drum. The pulling force or lifting power to be accurate differs significantly depending
on whether the numbers are stated with empty drum or full. Check the numbers when
compared to other models.
FARMA has
for many years chosen to have only a remote controlled winch in our assortment.
This is due to the fact that the risk of accidents rises sharply with a mechanically
controlled winch. Radio makes the work easier and more importantly safer by
removing dangerous and heavy work.
Talk to your dealer for more information!

BIGAB G2 - A shining star of Agroteknik
The exhibition
Agroteknik in Norway took place last week. It is Norway’s largest agricultural fair
that takes place every third year. BIGAB was represented by AK Maskiner. AK
Maskiner had an impressive stand where they chose to display BIGAB Generation 2
which attracted much attention.
Several
where those customers who already owns a BIGAB but now with great interest
learned more about the new Generation of BIGAB. Hook lift trailers with 60 –
degree tilt angle and several other features. Everyone seemed to like what they
saw. AK Maskiner will have several BIGAB of the old version in store when
customers would like to trade-in their old version for a new. However that is
never a problem since used BIGAB is really hot on the market and has a resale
value that beats most.
We thank Kalle Solhag and AK Maskiner for a very well performed exhibition and wish the best of luck with the sale!
Unfortunately not even the mobile took great pictures so there are none to show.

Visit from Romania!
We had a really
nice visit last week from our Romanian dealer Mr. Vlad Dorin Doinas from
company SC. MECOMAG H.V. SRL and Mr. Parascan Maricel. The main event for their visit was to go
down to the farm of our founder Mr. Leif Fors but they of course started with a
tour around the factory premises to see how and where the FARMA brand is produced.
Down on the farm
they drove and tested our new FARMA Generation 2 trailer series along with the
fantastic FARMA G2 cranes and was impressed by what they saw and felt. We thank
the Romain time for their visit and hope to see you back at Elmia Wood next
summer!

BIGAB in Russia!
We are
happy to share our great joy of achieving success in Russia after a year of
hard work. As we all know, Russia has huge land territories of agricultural lands.
There are a lot of agri – cooperation’s and big farmers. LLC “ZAVETNOYE” was founded in 2001 and is
located in the Georgievski district, Stavropol Territory. Due to the Southern climate
the agriculture work is well developed in this region. The main specialization
of this company is growing seed, storage of large quantities and farming crops
such as onions, carrots and beets. The company has a full range of agricultural
equipment. From recent times LLC “ZAVETNOYE” also received 10 pieces of BIGAB
15 – 19 from Fors MW for their daily transportation needs.
We feel confident, that „ZAVETNOYE” is satisfied with their BIGAB trailers and as agricultural producer they are ready for the cropping period. Fors MW hopes to expand the Russian market in the near future. During the last year we have sent quite a number of of BIGAB to the waste disposal management in several areas of Russia so things are progressing nicely!

Passing by a BIGAB to work
On my way
to work each morning for a couple of weeks I have had the pleasure of passing
by this nice looking BIGAB 20 – 24 just outside our aftermarket premises in
Norrköping. They use the machine heavenly and it seems to enjoy every bit of
it! Up here in our area of Sweden there are lots of BIGAB in the municipalities
and out in the landscape. It is always a pleasure to drive around!

We practice what we preach!
Here at
Fors MW we try to practice what we preach in all cases as far as we can at
least. A year ago we proudly announced that we had invested in a new heating
central for wood chips to hear our factory of more than 15 000 square under
roof, an investment that now a year later is soon to be paid off.
To go from
increasingly expensive oil dependence as in our case to be allowed to use
natural resources in a more direct form as wood chips was an economic equation
whose benefits were not too severe to
calculate. The chip is as such a natural consequence of our daily work
by the forest products that we produce under the name FARMA/NIAB which obviously
makes it even more rewarding. That we have been able to reduce our huge
dependence on oil down to almost nothing is a really cool trip both from an
economical as well as an environmental perspective! We still learn however and after a year of testing a system of transporting the wood chips into the heating central by container we saw a need for some innovation to simplify the feeding process of chips directly into the pan. “Chief engineer” Leif Fors came up with a solution one day one that we here and now open the lid to. Now we hope for another beautiful and warm winter inside the factory!

Let´s do this on a regular base!
We asked Igor
Kolutushkin, one of the assemblers at place during the photo shoot in Estonia a
month ago, to comment on his experience. Here is his story!
From time to
time, out of professional and personal interest, I tend to look at different programs on
Discovery channel that show how Canadian timber harvesting companies exploit
their machinery in very difficult circumstances, how different construction
elements of their machinery behaves in this process of felling, storing and
transportation of the trees.
Behaviour of hoisting and lifting mechanisms of these
machines has been under a specific interest of mine as the host of the show
usually gives a detailed information about which construction elements are most
vulnerable to high pressure in using maximum loads and how the rotator together
with the frame and the body of the mechanism affects the quality of work
performed by entire machine.
I watch the programs and think a lot about how the
machinery produced under Our brands of FARMA, BIGAB, NIAB is used in different
parts of the world. In the beginning of October I was lucky in enough to be
invited to a testing / photoshoot of forestry equipment produced and built at
Fors MW together with colleagues from Estonia and Sweden.
Testing/photo shoot was conducted in the forest not
far from city of Pärnu. The weather was on Our side providing Us with some
sunshine after quite a few rainy days and making it possible for Us to
test/shoot Our machines under extreme circumstances such as difficult road
conditions, soft ground, high humidity. And I have to say... the tension was
there... Being a member of an assembly team one always feels the pressure and a
sense of responsibility related to these machines that have been built with one’s
own hands.
So we stood there, quietly watching Our machines
working- admiring how light and precise were the movements of this equipment
amongst the chaos of felled trees, how with the help of Our grapples and cranes
trailers got filled with good quality timber. It’s impossible to experience
that adrenalin-rush, that drive while testing the machinery in the factory,
under controlled environment!
Needless to say – the results were pleasing although
we found a few areas that still need some love and affection! We strive for
perfection!
From my personal point of view I found out that this
type of testing days in the forest have to be arranged on a regular basis so
that more of Our specialists (
welders, members of assembly crews, designers ) would see Our products in
action in order to notice Our strong sides and a bit weaker points. It has been done but could be done more often. This way it
is easier to see where to focus in the future if we want to raise the quality, reliability
and competitiveness of Our machines.Fors MW Employee

Know more about us!
Fors MW has
as we know become a very successful business in forestry, agricultural and construction
businesses during the past 20 years on the market. We thought that since it is
some weeks before Christmas that we would open the doors to the way we think and
work in regards to production and sales as well as marketing. The questions
will have to be – how do we think and why?
Fors MW
mission is straightforward and clear. We develop and manufacture quality
machines for farmers, forestry owners and contractors worldwide at a price the
customer is willing to pay. It may sound simple but it puts great demands on
all of us through the entire chain, from development, production to marketing
and sales.
We must in
all parts evenly and constantly work with the price of purchase whether it is
steel price, hoses, price on advertisements or even hotel rooms at fairs. We
must always be on the lookout for better prices. The entire chain from
development, production, marketing and sales must relate 100 % to our business philosophy
for it to function. This place great demands on all of us to always deliver, but
on the other hand it makes every day a challenge!
Fors MW
never increases customer price as the quick fix solution as a result of rising costs.
Sometime it has been necessary to raise the price to end customer, but we do so
only when all other options have been exhausted. The very few price increases
we have had both in good and bad times during our history is a statement to
that fact. Our team of purchasers is acting with the whole world as their work
field. All to be able to continue to give you as our customer high quality
products to competitive prices! That´s what we call to lead the development and
meeting the market expectations of us as a marker leader!

Greetings from Paraguay!
A few days
ago we received some pictures from South America. It is of a BIGAB 8 – 12 that
were loaded into a sea container for a trip to Paraguay. There it will be used
for endless tasks such as transporting wood out of the forest to production
site, carrying fuel and small machines.
The photos
show pictures of containers being made using our load carrier frames.

New dealer in Slovakia!
We are
proud and excited to finally be able to announce a new dealer in Slovakia for our
forestry products FARMA and NIAB. Slovakia has for many years been a country to
which we have sold forestry products but always having to do so through neighboring
countries and dealers. Our new dealer SilvaTech will now change this. Silvatech
has its headquarters in Plavnica. Silvatech is started by ZUP Wrzos s.c that
has been our Polish dealer and friends for many years. ZUP is one of several
talented dealers in Poland. We wish ZUP and Silvatech the best of luck for the
future!

Planning next year’s exhibitions…
I have during the last month started to plan
the exhibitions of 2013 and there is quite a handful to deal with I must say. Hotels
needs to be booked, stands confirmed and people to notify about the hectic year
to come. I usually say that every second year is a year of exhibitions and 2013
most certainly gives credit to the expression.
Fors MW
will next year, beside all the hundreds of dealer days and regional shows that
our agents/dealers take part in at our account all over Europe, take part in
Forst Live (Germany), MaskinExpo (Sweden), Elmia Wood (Sweden), Borgeby
Fältdagar (Sweden), Entreprenadexpo (Sweden) and last but not least
Agritechnica (Germany).
A year as such needs careful early planning. To
pull of shows such as the largest forestry show in the world, Elmia Wood, or
the largest agricultural fair in the world, Agritechnica, demands quite a lot
of all. The whole Fors MW team needs to be on their toes because we all know what’s
ahead of us and to be honest then I do not simply talk about the exhibitions. I
rather think about the product news that is waiting in the pipeline to be
presented at the shows in the year ahead! Watch out – because there is news
ahead!

A lot to produce!
Here at Fors MW we use the material steering
program named Monitor from Sweden to steer our production. The Monitor program
is especially designed to deal with industrial production companies. Every week
we start by printing the order list from the program. A list which has been
carefully planned by our sales manager Mrs. Anne Peerand and which tell us what
to produce the coming week. We start the production process on Monday and each Thursday/Friday
the yard is full of trucks waiting for their specific load to be shipped all
over Europe and sometimes sea containers awaits for the load to be shipped by
sea to its final destination often in far away countries.
The photo shows our
CEO Mr. Peter Kastberg showing the list and explaining it to Fors MW visitors.

Back in the team – Meet Annika!
I am Annika
and here I am again! This time I have
got new tasks to do: as to create serial numbers to ordered Farma, Bigab and
Niab products. Later, when products are
ready to deliver, I prepare correct instruction books with warranty, claims and
EC- Confirmation documents to send to our customers together with the
machinery.
It was in
2005 January when I started here as administration assistant. I was happy to use my Swedish language skills
at every day job, as it was/is important for me. Beside that I made spare parts
invoices and communicated often with Kenth and Charlie at the aftermarket
office in Sweden, which has always been a very pleasant co-operation.
In 2007 I got my first son Arno Kenta and we
were at home until 2009, then I came back just for 4-5 month and 2010 I got my
second son Kennet Hiro. Now I am back
again full time at AS Fors MW and happy about it!
Shortly, my
responsibility is to create serial numbers, take care of above named documents
in different languages and to be aware of product updates and changes which
might affect instruction books and look after that information will be updated.
All the best, Annika
