Back in my hometown – Växjö

I am back in my old hometown of Växjö, Sweden for two days of intensive work at the advertising agency. We have a new FARMA brochure to produce along with several other things that we need to deal with so we have work cut out for us. Fun work though, to see the pictures we took, turns into fantastic marketing material to be used all over the world!
Växjö is a medium sized town in the South of Sweden with around 90 000 people within the municipality. It was here I grew up and here I have my heart placed. That this also is one of those places where you can see BIGAB around nearly every corner does not make my visit to this place any harder I must tell. There is work ongoing wherever you turn your eyes in this city and has so been for the past couple of years. Even though multiple BIGABs in this town I did not catch one on my walk to work this morning so therefore I add a picture that Björn Vigren (one of the guys at the advertising agency) took last spring, and as I said a typical Växjö view – a BIGAB in all its glory.

BIGAB – Indian Ocean!

During last week I was lucky enough to visit our dealer Mecom on the beautiful island of Mauritius to take a closer look at the two pieces of BIGAB 22 – 27 that Fors MW have working in the environment.  The trailers are working there as a part of mechanical harvest of sugar cane. A lot of the canes are still cut by hand.

It was a good time to pay a visit since the harvest is now drawing to a close for the season so this gave me a good chance to evaluate the performance of the trailers and see how we can improve for the future. The price of the cane is losing its support so the working efficiency is vital to the operation. The target for each harvesting gang is 500 tons/daily, yields are around 70 ton of hectares so the trailers are kept very busy. Distance to the factory is anything from 2 km to 50 km and there are four factories on the Island.

Some good discussions were had during my visit and the hospitality showed by Rolland Boulle and his team was first class, as ever it is always a pleasure to deal with pro – active dealers such as Mecom and we look forward to many years of future business.

On behalf of all of us at Fors MW I would like to thank Luc Arnaud and Rolland for the work and assistance with the project over the past 12 months.

P.S. The weather was good as well=) Not bad for an Englishman as myself this time of year....

Happy Birthday, Kersti!

“I think that we are like stars.
Something happens to burst us open; but when we burst open and think we are dying; we’re actually turning into a supernova.
And then when we look at ourselves again, we see that we’re suddenly more beautiful than we ever were before!”

To Christer ...

„To expect everything to be given to you from above, yet to be genuinely surprised and forever grateful, when they are.
Expecting all good things to be yours, while not knowing how to take anything for granted.
If there may be a key in life, this is the key.”

In need of a spare part?

If you are in need of a spare part you are welcome to take contact with our aftermarket division in Norrköping, Sweden. The aftermarket department is strategically located just a few hundred meters from the European highway named E4. That makes transport fast and easy. Several are those logistics centers that has there depots in the area.
We took a decision several years ago to dive the aftermarket from our production unit. There are several benefits by doing so but most importantly is that production will never snatch parts that were supposed to become products within aftermarket. It is so easy if you have everything under the same roof that the guy in production (when in need of a part) takes a tour around the aftermarket section for details. That is no longer the case since they are separate and the aftermarket by so, have their own stock to keep track of and keep up to date.

Meet Evelin!

Fors MW is an expanding company and as such we expand both in sales and staff. Now it is time to meet Evelin our latest member of the Fors MW team.

Hello!
I’m Evelin, 29 years old and have been working as an accountant in Fors MW since June. I’ve learned a lot in the past months and it’s been quite interesting journey for me.
Before Fors MW I was an accountant for 3,5 years working in an assembly and in logistic’s company and before that I spent 4 years at home with my litte boy. So getting back to work was a great challenge on one hand and an incredible opportunity on the other. So far I’ve enjoyed my time here and hope it goes on this way for many more years.

My free time I spend mostly behind books and computers. I just finished Millennium series and before that I read a lot of A. Nekrassov’s books.  I also like dancing and occasionally visit a cinema to watch movies- mostly adventure or sci-fi and of course some cartoons with my kid.
Thank You for Your time!

Evelin

Another week of interviews

In the work to find replacements for our sales guys Calle and Göran in Sweden we have continued our search this week by interviewing people both in the region of Stockholm but also in Malmö covering the South. It has been great meetings and we have a lot to think of in the coming days. This is an important task for us and not one we deal with easy. There will be some days of thoughts and discussions ahead.
The photo is of the central train station in Malmö where some of the meetings took place this week.

Laser cutting – A part of the new Generation 2 series!

Two years ago we bought and installed a very large laser cutting machine which is a great supplement to our gas and water cutters that was already at place. We have been using the laser machine quite a lot in our work to create our new FARMA Generation 2 series, either it is for the crane or the new trailers. The laser cutting makes the edges perfect and adds to the finish of the product in general. As we continue our development you can be sure we continue to use the laser!

Interview week in Norrköping, Sweden!

Last week we began our work to find replacement for sales managers Carl Erik Åkesson and Göran Carlsson, who today manages the Swedish and Norwegian market. Calle and Göran have been with us for a long time but feel that it is time for a shift change. Read more about this in previous news posts where they describe the need to initiate a new phase in life.

This was the first interview week. The pressure has been enormous. More than 250 people have applied for the post. Of them, around 50 have felt more or less qualified for the position. Many have felt summon, which we appreciate a lot, but as always it´s a few that will be contacted for interview. Prior to the interviews, all undergo various tests to produce a profile of character. An instrument that now, when correctly used, proved to be a huge asset.

On location in Norrköping, we have had our CEO Peter Kastberg, marketing and information manager Ulrica Fors Stenmarck and Anna Tinglöf our recruiting expert. We are only at the beginning of the recruitment process. Several candidates will have to take the next step over the Baltic Sea to pay a visit in the factory in Estonia in a second step in the recruiting process. This is an extremely important recruitment for Fors MW, so we put all the resources into this to put together a true “dream team” for our future marketing efforts!

What a team we are!

We have had some absolutely fantastic days at Leif Fors (founder of Fors MW) farm in Estonia. After weeks of rain, we managed to come for a visit on a few days when the sun showed itself and the rain at least was absent. We brought down a large part of our broad product range of FARMA forestry trailers and took both pure product photos as well as pictures of the trailers in real forestry work.

The image bank that we now will build, through those days, will be worth its weight in gold both in regards of our new FARMA brochure, website, and our ads but also for our partners around Europe and their marketing material. The products showed themselves from its most beautiful side and the work ran smoothly all week.
I would like to say a big thank you to the team at the factory in Saue for a great effort to get all the machines ready in time!

I would like to thank Leif Fors for all the work ahead of our visit such as building roads, cut down timber, clearing areas for us to use when showing our products in thinning positions but also lending out machine halls and other equipment. Who in the industry have the opportunity we have?

I want to thank Valtra tractors for lending us brand new tractors for the photo shoot. We will return to you with great images of a lovely combination of tractor and trailer.
I want to thank Zetor tractors for lending us brand new tractors for the photo shoot. We will return to you with great images of a lovely combination of tractor and trailer.

Last but not least I want to thank the team that was at place from Sweden and Estonia on the farm during these intensive days. I had never been able to pull this off without each and everyone of you! Thank you!

More photos will follow tomorrow.
Please note! Photos are taken from mobile and not the ones to be used in the new brochure.

A visit with J & A construction!

It is time to meet yet another satisfied BIGAB owner from Sweden. They also own the BIGAB 20 – 24 with pro – longed bogie with heavy duty suspension which enables you to transport a little more on the road more convenient and legally.
J & A construction is a full service provider of construction services, from concept to finished production and maintenance. In addition, an operation and maintenance department provides work related to forestry, cleaning around power lines and property maintenance.

J & A construction was started in 2003 and has extensive experience of working in municipalities and around industrial premises in East of Sweden. The machine park consists since several years of BIGAB. They have now bought a new BIGAB 20 – 24 that are used mainly for construction jobs. The new 20 – 24 has pro-longed bogie with heavy duty suspension and self – steering axle. The picture shows Peter Johansson who comments on how pleased he is with how steady the trailer is and that is both light and flexible to drive. They also have the frame steering. An option they would never like to be without. It makes the work so much easier when we have to go into those tight spaces says the owner Linus.

We wish the owner Linus Almen with staff all the best in their future business!
