Visiting our home market!

Yesterday we had a very nice day visiting our Estonian prime dealer, Peetri Talutehnika (Peters Farmingmachinery). It was very impressive to see the progress made at their place with a brand new office building and exhibition area. Being an Estonian company this is our home market dealer and they have sold very well over the years and taking very good care of their customers, however our sale in % on the Estonian market is only a few %, so there is growth potential. As one example of their customer care, their team brought us to visit two end users that were out working on this very rainy day to see their service and support activities they do for their clients. The first customer is using our T12 4WD with the new C85 loader 5 days a week for 6 months and seeing his skills in the forest and his handling of both crane and trailer it was obvious he is an experienced user and happy customer. The other site was at a sawmill were an entrepreneur was using a chipper with our C85 crane to chip leftovers from the saw mill. Fantastic day and thank you Urmas and Indrek for your great work with our products. It looks very promising for the future! (More sales catalogues are on the way!)

Borgeby field days

It was a great first day at Borgeby Field days. Loads of people and most importantly initiated visitors with a genuine interest for the products that the customers have to what is offered. Fors MW have taken part in this exhibition for several years and has seen it grow from a small but still important exhibition to a real player on the agricultural market of exhibitions. Part of the success is the fact that they have sticked to the core of their plane which is to show field products in their right environment at the same time providing top of the line speakers and providing a knowledge base hard to find elsewhere so gathered and easy to access. Tomorrow is day two and also the last day of the show. We look forward to it and if you are passing by, pop in for a visit at stand A 13!

Time for Borgeby Field days!

Next week it is time for yet another exhibition, this time in the south of Sweden. We are as always at place to meet customers from near and far. Borgeby Field days has become a really important player when you want to meet with customers in agriculture and this year the show has once again hit the record in numbers of exhibitors. In our stand you will meet with both FARMA forest trailers and BIGAB hook lift systems. If you missed our BIGAB Generation 2 trailer on MaskinExpo in May you have another chance at Borgeby! A tip angle of 65 degrees on a hook lift trailer is unique on the market and a real good advantage in the agricultural and/or field work!

Welcome to visit our stand A 13!

Summarizing six months of 2012

Today we had for the third time our six months review with all staff that was at work in Saue this day. The aim at these meetings is to share some facts and achievements from the last six months and to focus on improvements. To briefly summarize, it has been six very good sales months, but market is clearly slowing down now which is normal during the summer period. When times are a bit slower we will focus on quality even more and along with that we have some very nice new products in the pipeline. We finished off the meeting with some nice grilled sausages and salad. I wish to thank all the team, in Saue, Norrköping and Shanghai for a very well done work during these six months, it really shows on the market feedback! Thanks also all to you that helped to arrange this nice afternoon with preparations, grill and cleaning up.

Visit to Germany.

Yet again we have  felt a need for an upgrade when it comes to Our technology ... since we want to keep up with all the possibilities out there.

This time an articulated measuring arm has caught Our eye.

ZETT MESS AMPG  articulated measuring arm is a transportable coordinate measuring machine.

The AMPG can be optionally fitted with a fixed probe, a touch trigger probe, a laser sensor or a tube measuring fork. Measured values are recorded either at the touch of a button or automatically for transfer to the computer. Precision of AMPG is up to a thousandth of a mm.

And of course , with a new machine – You have to get to know  it in order to use its full potential !

For this purpose mainly we sent three of Our people: Ago Kakko, Tarmo Last and Andrei Hakman to  AMPG-s producer factory Zett  Mess  Technik  GmbH , Messmaschinen  in Sankt Augustine , as they are kind enough to provide buyers with necessary training  and additional  software  to go with their machines.

Two trainig days spent in the factory were intense but filled with useful information and the knowledge that Our people came home with – absolutely priceless!

The AMPG will start its preciseness measurements at Our factory in July 2012.

We already see quite a few areas where this wonderful machine can be used... within quality control for example . Our company and Our clients will only benefit from it!

Despite a hectic schedule  and long days  Our guys managed  even visit KWF which is  an international forestry fair in Germany .

It was a happy meeting between colleagues at Our own stand and it gave Our Design  department a chance to get an overview of whats happening  on the market at this point in time.

FARMA – The Log cracker

Presented already as a prototype at Elmia last year the log cracker has spent a year being tested and developed but is now ready to be introduced to the market. The log cracker is a versatile piece of equipment. The splitting of large timber logs into smaller pieces achieves a cost - effective and quick solution but it also provides a natural drying of the timber. The smaller pieces of timber make it possible to use small scale chipping equipment when producing wood chips. The log cracker can as easily be mounted on an excavator as on a wood crane of substantial size. More information will follow at the homepage next week.

Please note! The log cracker is not adoptable on any FARMA crane.

The excavator coupling and the valve package on the pictures are available options.

Taking a road trip

This weekend I went for a road trip to my old home town Växjö. It is a lovely town in many ways but one of the best things about it is that wherever you drive you see a hook lift in action and mainly it is a BIGAB standing there in all its glory doing the tough work day in and day out. The reason for the well spread BIGAB hook lift trailers in the municipality is of course thanks to the great work of our dealer in the area, Sundahls! They understood the product and all its benefits early on and they have been really successful in marketing it. For me it makes my trips back home all the nicer. The photo is of a BIGAB 12 – 15 in action down at the train yard.

KWF Forestry exhibition - Update!

Two days of the forestry show KWF, Germany has passed. We are now half way through the show and the interest is very good for all our products. Our T6 with C 3,8 G2 crane has been the winner of the day with lots of questions. We also have our dealer AB Lantbruk from Norway visiting us and Helms from Denmark. The weather is rapidly improving so we took a walk ourselves and realize that it takes at least two days to really see all of the show. The show has become really big but I will complain on the information and signs, that can be improved a lot to find your way around, here Elmia Wood is a considerably more efficient in supporting visitors and exhibitors. Today it will be even better weather and we expect even more people to pass by our stand.

Tomorrow we open up at KWF

We have today setup all trailers and prepared the stand to receive visitors tomorrow. We are looking forward to get the first comments on the T10 and T12 G2 along with the Log Cracker 700. They a long great and shiny.

Weather forecast looks a bit poor however, we were lucky to clean the machines before it started to rain so now they will be even cleaner for tomorrow. Our machines are ready, our stand is ready, our team is ready….bring in the visitors (whatever if it rains or not!)

BIGAB proudly presents - The dump trailer T–7!

Last year we introduced a new product in the BIGAB assortment. Under the name BIGAB we launched a dump trailer in its lineup off the same fine quality as the one BIGAB is already well-known for. The dump trailer is to be seen as an alternative for users in combination with tractors, excavators and loaders in need for a quick and simple carrier of various types of materials and where one might not be able to gain from the cost - benefits that the hook lift trailer concept normally provides.

News of the season is the BIGAB T-7 dump trailer which is a relatively simple but sturdy dump trailer completely in the same spirit as the BIGAB. The trailer loads 7 ton and has a tipping angle of 66°. The bridge loads 5,6 m3 with a 5 mm plate thickness at the bottom and 3 mm at the sides. The T-7 is a ready to go trailer. Options available are brakes and tires. The T-7 is equipped with a bridge that has the possibility to open both rear and side door (as seen in the picture) which increases the easy access to the bridge.

One of the unique for the BIGAB dump trailer is that it is equipped with bolted drawbar which provides comfort and increased flexibility since it offers the opportunity to use different heights of the drawbar on the basis of need. For a trailer out of the ordinary, we also offer frame steering for the work that needs to be done in narrow areas, where the need for a smooth and easily maneuvered trailer often is needed. The homepage will be updated during the week with more information.

Another company’s journey – Ljungby Maskin

Last Thursday I had the real privilege to be invited to the founder of the wheel loader company Ljungby Maskin. Mr Rune Andersson is a truly driven person that never sits down I think, his mind and experience in his field of business is just mind blowing. I was given a full day visit with a very nice tour of the factory and we discussed pros and cons with different production applications, machines and techniques which was very rewarding. What sticks out is his concern for the end user to get a good working environment and easy access for maintenance and comparing to the competition I can only congratulate of all the details that he showed that makes the Ljungby machines ahead of the competition. He is just another example, as Leif Fors is for us, that you can never beat the real experience from an own user of your developed products, Rune, thank you for a fantastic day and all your good advice and encouraging words!

Fair in Germany - KWF!

Next week is it time for the Fors MW team to head down south to Bopfingen, Germany, for participating in the Fors MW stand at the German international forestry fair KWF. On site already fixing with our stand is our German sales representative Peter Roos. There are a lot of things that should be in place for the show and this year we also have some interesting news to present. Under the FARMA Generation2 concept we present two completely new FARMA trailers, models T 12 and T 10.

FARMA is proud to present our new professional lumber trailer range. It has an entirely new and innovative design to satisfy its audience. A trailer like no other on the market, primarily due to the trailer's frame, which comprises an octagonal, bent centre profile which means that the flat surfaces are smaller and that the frame can consequently resist impacts better than a normal rectangular profile. Quite simply it has been made more impact-resistant.

At the KWF show our visitors will also be able to get acquainted with the FARMA log cracker, now ready for production, and the energy cutter BC 18 now in a new and improved version. In addition, we show FARMA´s successful grapple series, and last but not least, a T 6 trailer with the new link arm crane C 3,8 G2.

Are you visiting the show? Welcome to visit our stand at A:613!

The Girls’ Choir “Ellerhein”

September 14, 1951 is considered to be the birthday of the Tallinn Children’s  Choir, made up of children from all over the city.  In 1969, on the 100th anniversary of the Estonian National Song Festival, the children’s choir was renamed, “ELLERHEIN”. The founder of the choir was Heino Kaljuste (1925-1989), at that time a second.year student at the Tallinn State Conservatoire, later a professor and the chief conductor of the choir. In 1970 Mrs. Tiia-Ester Loitme started to work as the assistant conductor and since 1989 she has been continuing Heino Kaljuste’s life work as the chief conductor of “Ellerhein”.

Choires repertoire consists of works by famous Estonian composers such as Arvo Pärt, Urmas Sisask, Veljo Tormis, Erkki-Sven Tüür and Gustav Ernesaks and also world-famous composers from all over the world.

„Ellerhein“ has won a Grammy award for best choral performance for Jean Sibelius: Cantatas (Virgin Classics)
Paavo Järvi, conductor
Girls’ Choir “Ellerhein”, conductor Tiia-Ester Loitme
Estonian National Male Choir, conductor Ants Soots
Estonian National Symphony Orchestra

And the success-story continues as at the INTERNATIONAL CHORAL COMPETITION AVE VERUM in Baden/Austria from May 10th to 13th  2012 won „Ellerhein“ a Second Prize Gold Level with 94,3 points (conductors Tiia-Ester Loitme and Ingrid Kõrvits). Competitions Grand Prix went to a brilliant choir  Musica Antiqua from Argentina this year.

10 choires from all over the world attended this high-profile competition: Norway, Austria,Germany,Argentina,USA, Belarus, Sweden and Hungary by two choires were represented  in addition to Estonia.

The judges of the competition were from the rank of their own:
Heinz Ferlesch (Austria), Maria Goundorina (Russia), Vytautas Miškinis (Lithuania), Erwin Ortner (Austria), Karmina Šilec (Slovenia) ja Robert Sund (Sweden).

„Ellerhein „ was presented  with an opportunity to perform in Vienna Wotruba-Kirche  during this wonderful yet hectic period and one just cant say no to a possibility like this one! The choire was accompanied, in addition to conductors, by Mare Põder (vocal instructor of „Ellerhein“) and pianist Kaisa Laasik .

We , here at Fors MW, are happy that we were able to help young ladies of „Ellerhein“ with their travels to Austria and we wish them the best of luck in the future!
May it be bright and filled with glory!

Entreprenadexpo 2012!

Monday was the exhibitor briefing ahead of Entreprenadexpo 2012. It is a completely new fair which takes place on Ring Knutstorps racing track in northern Skåne on the 20th to 22th of September. The fair will be centrally located with a large catchment area and it is estimated to affluent visitors from all over southern Sweden.

The fair is held just off the racing track. The track will offer a range of activities for the visitors during the fair. Maybe a trip around the track at 200km/hour? Spite the track, the fair is situated in a very beautiful area surrounded by a lush national park. There is still a lot to do before the fair in September, but the prospects for a good show is the very best and we look forward to soon set up the stand at booth D408/507!

Happy Birthday, Anu!

Drop a pebble in the water,
And its ripples reach out far;
And the sunbeams dancing on them
May reflect them to a star.

Give a smile to someone passing,
Thereby making his morning glad;
It may greet you in the evening
When your own heart may be sad.

Do a deed of simple kindness;
Though its end you may not see,
It may reach, like widening ripples,
Down a long eternity.

/Joseph Norris/

Dear Anne...

Shoot for the moon - even if You miss,
You'll land among the stars.

Spread joy, chase your wildest dreams – be happy!

BUSY FARMA ON THE ISLE OF MAN

The jewel in the Irish sea, The Isle of Man, a place known to the world due the famous TT road racing event held there every year, attracting visitors from all over the world, well there has been a visitor or two in recent years from Estonia as well, in the name of BIGAB and FARMA.

Here are some pictures that were sent over from our dealer on the Isle, JDW Engineering. One of their clients needed to my make his current trailer more versatile to help with his expanding fencing business, So JDW recommended fitting a FARMA crane to it. The deal was quickly done and a new crane was delivered and fitted by the dealer. This is just one more example how Fors MW products can help business both small and large.

There is how ever also a rather sad link between the Isle and Estonia. Road racing legend Joey Dunlop, the all time record holder on the TT course with 27 wins, was killed in a small road race in Tallinn just after he had retired from competitive racing. Today he is honored in Tallinn with a nice monument at one of the loveliest spots of all – the beach way to Pirita, Tallinn.

A beautiful shine!

When we´re out at exhibitions we often receive comments on the shine and luster of our products. Many are those that comments that our products really shine, and indeed in many ways stands out among all the other products. What´s the secret?

Maybe we should not tell all the details behind the nice finish but like most things in this world it is all about the groundwork. A few years ago, Fors MW invested large in a number of machines, one of these investments was our huge (it almost takes a large machine room of itself) blaster. To blaster a complete chassis contributes to a great finish and a good base to paint. A year ago we also installed a new paint system in the Fors MW painting facility. Nowadays, there is a two component paint that comes out of our paint sprayers. The paint has a harder surface and a UV protection for a shine that lasts!
